In her Autobiography, Maria Valtorta reveals to us – and direct witnesses confirm it – that she had an extremely severe and authoritarian mother who bullied her docile husband and imposed every kind of suffering on her daughter – who certainly had to draw from it too a motive for her sanctification.
ISIDE FIORAVANZI, born in 1861 at Cremona, and deceased at Viareggio in 1943, married to Giuseppe Valtorta in 1893, was one year older than her husband, but did not want that to be said or known. A woman who, for those times, was cultured (she was a French teacher), she remained a homemaker, even while loving the 19th Century vanity of extravagant hats and parlor visits.
