In celebrating Mass, reverence and devotion are necessary. It is well known that the use of the maniple was introduced for the convenience of wiping away tears because in ancient times priests, while celebrating, did nothing but weep out of devotion.
It has already been said that the priest at the altar represents Jesus Christ.
But, speaking of the way in which most priests say Mass, one should weep, but weep with tears of blood!
It is a source of pity, so to speak, to see the disgrace that many priests and religious and even some of the reformed religious orders make of Jesus Christ.
Observe with what attention priests ordinarily celebrate Mass. They would do well to be told what Clement Alexandrinus reproached the Gentile priests for, namely, that they made heaven the stage, and God the subject of the play.
But no, what am I saying? Comedy? These people would take much more care if they had to play a part in a comedy!
What attention do they pay to the Mass? Words are mutilated, …More

Place more attention upon the Holy Sacrifice. It is being celebrated in a manner that is not approved of by the Eternal Father. Take the time to honor your God with your heart.
There is no time in Heaven, and you shall not place a time upon the Holy Sacrifice.

Notice how slurred even the traditionalists 'pray' the Confiteor Deo. After the priest rushes through it, it's like he's standing over the servers with a switch as they say it if they take too long.

I once heard Cardinal O’Malley say that one of the first things that attracted him to the priesthood was how his parish priest could say daily Mass in 12 minutes (could have been 15). I say this not to judge His Eminence, who was a boy at the time, and, by Novus ordo standards is a very reverent celebrant, but to verify how common this sort of irreverance was in the 1950’s, as well as many times …More

Zeer correct verhaal, bij de Tweede Vaticaanse Concilie Mis is er beslist geen sprake van enige devotie.

Yes, I have to say I have been very pained by the haste with which some Traditional Priests say daily Mass. It's very hard to ignore the rapid fire manner in which it is done when after living very busy lives we come to Mass so as to be steeped in a purifying atmosphere of reverence and prayer, only to encounter a Mass said so quickly it sounds as though the Priest can't wait to finish it. They need to be more aware of those present, and the impact this has on them, not to mention what it sounds like to God.

@michael newman I am not sure whether you were just trying to be humorous, but after posting my own comment above I thought about it and realized that when I attend a Novus Ordo daily Mass, they don't rush through it the same way some Priests do when offering the Mass in Latin. I guess it's because it's in English and they know we're all listening.

This is certainly not a defense of the Novus Ordo, which I suffer through when I am not able to go to the Traditional Mass during the week; there are plenty of other abuses which abound in Novus Ordo parishes.

But it is sad we need to listen to some Priests racing through the Latin at top speed when we who are present are trying to pray the Mass.....I will pray it stops, that these Priests receive a light on what they are doing and change their manner.
