He received a flower garland and toured the temple’s "sacred" spaces. Cardinal Koovakad also participated in the traditional Indian lamp-lighting ceremony, commonly called Deep Prajwalan. The ritual is performed at Hindu religious and cultural events. The gathering concluded with meditation and prayer [to whom?]. Koovakad also spoke of establishing “standards of discernment together” through interreligious dialogue.
