Bishop Ángel Javier Pérez Pueyo of Barbastro-Monzón, Spain, has said he would offer his resignation rather than sign a settlement under which the statue of Our Lady of the Angels of Torreciudad remains permanently at the Opus Dei sanctuary. The bishop drew his red line in a public letter on 31 August, ahead of the image’s return to its ancient hermitage on 5 September for the 47th Pilgrimage of the Virgins of Ribagorza and Sobrarbe. That return is temporary. It has been authorized by Archbishop Alejandro Arellano Cedillo, the pontifical commissioner for Torreciudad. After the pilgrimage, the image is due to return to the sanctuary. Bishop Pérez Pueyo’s threat concerns the final settlement: he refuses to accept an arrangement under which the statue remains there permanently and returns to the hermitage only on special occasions. He would "never sign such an unlikely act of plundering your dignity," he wrote, adding he would instead offer his resignation. The dispute has effectively been …ተወሳኺ

Some evangelical groups in India’s western state of Maharashtra are asking Christians to sign declarations confirming that they attend prayer meetings voluntarily. Maharashtra’s Freedom of Religion Law, which targets “forced religious conversions,” took effect on August 28. It prohibits conversions involving force, fraud, coercion, undue influence or inducement. Christian groups fear its broad provisions could be applied to ordinary religious or charitable activities. The forms, reported in Mumbai and neighbouring districts, state that Christians attend of their own choice, without pressure, inducement or threats. Some churches also request a photograph and an Aadhaar or PAN identification number. The declarations are not required by the government. The move follows several disruptions of Christian gatherings. The Indian Express reported nine police cases linked to five incidents between April and July. Christian leaders say the forms were introduced as protection against allegations …ተወሳኺ
Your Faith Must Rest On Christ Crucified The gospel reading emphasizes the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy through Christ’s death and resurrection. St. Paul’s preaching in Corinth focused on the power of God demonstrated in the crucifixion and resurrection, highlighting the need for a faith based on this truth rather than human wisdom or a “buddy” Jesus. We are challenged to examine our faith, questioning if it is centered on the power of God or a distorted, more palatable version of the gospel. Fr. Lord Bebo & Friends What Zelensky wanted to achieve in Russia … happens to Ukraine Zelensky’s war on Russia’s logistics backfired “bigly.” He wanted to force Russia’s capitulation in 40 days but provoked a relentless Russian bombing campaign that led to 90% of logistics centers being destroyed. This leaves stores without food and rationing the little they have. People now go to villages, where food is grown by local babushkas and one can survive on homegrown produce. And then, for those in Madrid, there is Cobo. When Leo arrived at the papal throne, he privately lamented that “this one knows everything about me.” Yet it seems it has not mattered, and the man from Sabiote is stronger than ever and has surrendered the Valley of the Fallen along the way.
France Requires Life Insurers to Cover Assisted Deaths: France’s new assisted-dying law requires life insurers to pay benefits when a policyholder dies through euthanasia. This applies even when the policy normally excludes suicide during its first year. It also applies to contracts signed before the law took effect. After repeated Senate opposition, the National Assembly approved the euthanasia law on July 15. The Constitutional Council upheld the contested provisions on August 14. The law was promulgated on August 18.
