Lionel: The Vatican affirms Vatican Council II with a break; a schism with the Council of Florence 1442 on the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS), with no known exceptions. For the Vatican, theoretical possibilities are practical exceptions for EENS. This is irrational and not part of the deposit of the faith. It is political.

A meeting took place on 28 February 2018 at the Congregation between Cardinal Luis Ladaria, then Prefect, Monsignor Guido Pozzo, and Bishop Bernard Fellay.
Bishop Fellay said he would submit the Declaration to the FSSPX General Chapter, scheduled for July 2018. At that Chapter, on 11 July 2018, Father Davide Pagliarani was elected Superior General.
Lionel: How can the SSPX give its consent of mind and will to the Creeds, Councils and Catechisms interpreted irrationally and dishonestly by Pope Benedict and Cardinal Ladaria and then Pope Francis and now Pope Leo ? Pope Benedict kept it a secret. The Council is traditional and ecclesiocentric when LG 8, 14, 16 etc refer to invisible and hypothetical cases only i.e Ad Gentes 7 is aligned with EENS and LG 8, 14, 16. UR 3. NA 2, Gs 22 etc are not objective exceptions for EENS or AG 7. So Vatican Council II would really support the SSPX on EENS etc.

In the autumn of 2018, Cardinal Ladaria and Monsignor Pozzo met with Father Pagliarani.
Monsignor Pozzo on Fr Pagliarani: "He informed us that he would not sign the Declaration, as he considered it insufficient and inadequate to address the difficulties and critical issues raised by the FSSPX, and that Rome would have to acknowledge its errors."
Lionel: Rome still interprets the Creeds, Councils and Catechisms irrationally and schismatically. There is no comment or denial from them.

Why Ecclesia Dei Commission Was Abolished
Following this refusal, Pope Francis, having been informed of the negative outcome, decided to suppress the Ecclesia Dei Commission, which since 2009 had been engaged in doctrinal discussions with the FSSPX.
Monsignor Pozzo said he was "very disappointed by the FSSPX's refusal - not least because many points in the Declaration had been the result of joint work during the dialogue that had taken place up to that point."
Lionel: The dialogue was based upon Vatican Council II irrational and not rational, with LG 16 visible and not invisible. Also the talks between Fr. Jean Marie Gleize and Fr. Luiz Ladaria sj was based upon this dishonest interpretation of Vatican Council II.

What the FSSPX Had to Sign in 2018
Regarding Vatican II, the FSSPX was asked to affirm that the Church's Magisterium is the authentic guardian and interpreter of Scripture and Tradition, serving the Word of God rather than standing above it.

The Declaration also required acceptance that Vatican II must be interpreted in continuity with the Church's perennial Tradition and constant Magisterium, while allowing legitimate theological discussion and clarification on particular conciliar texts and subsequent liturgical and canonical reforms.
Lionel: Vatican Council II interpreted rationally is harmony with the dogma EENS with no exceptions, the Arthanasius Creed with no known exceptions in the present times and an ecumenism of return of the Syllabus of Pius IX with no known excptions. But this is not accepted by the Vatican.

Finally, the FSSPX was asked to recognise the validity of the Mass and the sacraments celebrated according to the liturgical books promulgated by Popes Paul VI and John Paul II.
