For Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Ad Gentes 7 in Vatican Concia II says all need faith and baptism for salvation. So he is really saying outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation according to Vatican Council II.
It is Vatican Council II which says outside the Church there is no salvation, as did, Fr. Davide Pagliarani in his Declaration of Faith.
Cardinal Zuppi, the President of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI), would have the same doctrinal position as the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) Superior General, Fr. Davide Pagliarani.
Vatican Council II is aligned with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus of the Council of Florence 1442, for the both of them, with AG 7 in line with EENS and LG 8, 14, 16 etc not being explicit exceptions.
All this is true only if LG 8, 14, 16, UR 3, NA2, GS 22 etc refer to invisible and hypothetical cases only. This is the discovery.
But for Cardinal Zuppi, LG 8, 14, 16 etc, are visible cases in the present times. So they are visible exceptions for the dogma EENS in 2026. This is also the false reasoning of the SSPX.
So Vatican Council II is a break with Tradition for Cardinal Zuppi and Fr. Pagliarani.
But for Fr. Sebastian Vazhakhala m.c, at Largo Preneste, Rome, where I live, LG 8, 14, 16 etc, refer to hypothetical cases. So they are not objective exceptions for the dogma EENS. Vatican Council II has the hermeneutic of continuity with Tradition for this priest from Kerala, India. He is the co-founder of the religious community, Missionaries of Charity Contemplative Brothers of Mother Teresa. It is the same for the other priests and religious brothers of this M.C community.
All the priests of the SSPX too would agree that LG 8, 14, 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc, refer to hypothetical and invisible cases in 1965-2026. This was confirmed by Fr. Aldo Rossi, the former prior of the SSPX at Albano, Italy.
So we now have priests who offer Holy Mass in English and Italian and those who do so in Latin, saying outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation, according to Vatican Council II.I repeat: based upon Vatican Council II and not only Tradition (EENS, Catechisms, Syllabus etc).
So with a small change- LG 16 being invisible instead of visible, Vatican Council II becomes traditional and ecclesiocentric, for Cardinal Zuppi and Fr. Pagliarani. It would be the same for Pope Leo and Cardinal Fernandez.
CLARIFICATION NEEDED
So Cardinal Fernandez, the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Vatican, and the SSPX need to clarify that they are affirming the de fide teaching outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation ( from Hell) according to Vatican Council II interpreted rationally ( AG 7 is in harmony with EENS and not contradicted by LG 8, 14, 16 etc).
Now with this single change, this new discovery- the Church changes radically.
All that is needed is a simple observation. One simple action. It is like watering the roots of a tree and the whole tree (bark, leaves) is nourished. One simple action.
This is a new discovery in the Catholic Church today but it was known in the Church over the centuries before 1949.
The new discovery today is that the baptism of desire (LG 14) and being saved in invincible ignorance (LG 16) refer to hypothetical and invisible cases only, always.
With this discovery the Council is no more liberal but traditional.
In 1965 they confused physically visible cases of LG 8, 14, 16 etc as being visible examples of salvation outside the Catholic Church. So it was wrongly assumed that there were practical exceptions for EENS, an ecumenism of return to the Catholic Church, traditional ecclesiocentric mission and evangelisation, exclusivist ecclesiology of the old Roman Missal etc. So Vatican Council II was seen as ‘a revolution’ in the Church. Doctrine was changed by the Council in principle. Innovation could be made in faith and morals and it would be acceptable. liberalism and polarization came into the Church. No more was there unity on doctrine.
With Vatican Council II aligned with EENS, the Catholic Church today has the same ecclesiology, as at the times of the Papal States in Europe and the Austro Hungarian Catholic Empire,. Extra ecclesiam nulla salus today, is the same as it was the missionaries and magisterium of the 16th century.
Vatican Council II is traditional and this was not known to Rahner, Ratzinger, Balthazar and Lefebvre, Davies and Cardinal Ottaviani.
It was not known to Pope John Paul II and Cardinal Ratzinger. They did not tell Archbishop Lefebvre and the excommunicated SSPX bishops that LG 16 was invisible. Pope Benedict did not tell Bishop Bernard Fellay that LG 16 was invisible.Summorum Pontificum did not mention this. He did not tell the SSPX that they could interpret Vatican Council II rationally and so were eligible for canonical recognition.
Even today Pope Leo is not telling all the religious communities to interpret Vatican Council II rationally with LG 16 invisible and that the SSPX and the Ecclesia Dei communities can do the same. It is all still a secret.
