Francis opened on October 13 the way for a “beatification” of John Paul I (Albino Luciani, +1978), but the journalist Americo Mascarucci remains sceptical.

We will have to wait and see. Traditionally and historically, canonizations have been held as infallible by Holy Mother Church. The raising of a martyr to the Altars by the Supreme Pontiff is considered one of the holiest and most infallible acts of his Office, recognized as such by the Faithful throughout the whole of the universal Church, and sanctioned by Our Lady, herself. Thus, we can only wait and watch to see if it will be the current Holy Father, or one of his future successors, who will finally be the Pontiff that proclaims Pope John Paul I a Saint. Only time will tell.

Allegedly murdered for wanting to dismiss Cardinal Baggio, the last to see him alive. Allegedly he wanted to restore the Mass. Who knows?

I would very much doubt that the first Pope not to have a coronation would have been itching to restore the Mass, but who knows? If Casaroli had him killed, then his plan really backfired when the name Wojtyła was announced, quite happily I might add!
