Cardinal Baldassarre Reina, Vicar General for the Diocese of Rome, refused permission for the Catholic funeral of Bruno Battisti D’Amario, a guitarist and senior figure in Italian freemasonry. D’Amario, who died on August 5 aged 88, was known for his collaboration with Ennio Morricone and played guitar on famous soundtracks including A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West. His funeral had initially been approved at Santa Maria in Montesanto, Rome’s “Church of the Artists.” After his death, however, the Grand Orient of Italy revealed that D’Amario had held significant roles within freemasonry. He had founded a Roman lodge, composed the organization’s official anthem, and held several senior positions. Church officials had allegedly been unaware of his Masonic involvement when approving the funeral. After the information emerged, the basilica’s rector, Archbishop Antonio Staglianò, referred the matter to Cardinal Reina. Following consultation …Bontsi
This should not be news. It’s news because of the new normal in the Church. Everyone gets a funeral, everyone is saved. That’s not what Christ taught and died for.

Bishop Mark A. Eckman, 67, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will bring an end to the traditional Latin Mass at St. Titus Church in Aliquippa after nearly 20-years. Bishop Eckman was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh in 2021. In June 2025, Leo XIV promoted him to Bishop of Pittsburgh. In a letter dated 7 August (see below), Monsignor Eckman announced that the final Mass to be held at St. Titus using the 1962 Missal is scheduled for 4 September. The remaining two traditional Latin Masses in Pittsburgh are offered by the Institute Christ the King in Brighton Heights and by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X in the West End. Bishop Eckman said his predecessor, Bishop David A. Zubik, received Vatican permission in 2022 to continue the Mass at St. Titus. The initial two-year authorization was extended in September 2024 for another two years. The Bishop didn't seek another extension, “The permission to celebrate according to the older ritual in a parish church was only ever meant to be …Bontsi
Mexican Bishop Hops Left and Right Before the Altar: Bishop José Leopoldo González González, 71, of San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico, hopped and danced in liturgical vestments, including his mitre, during Emaús 2026. The diocesan gathering brought together more than 5,000 young Catholics on 23–24 May in San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco. González explained that a young man had told him the dance was simple—“one step to the right and another to the left” - and joked that he had “fallen into the trap.”
During Emaús 2026 in San Miguel el Alto, Bishop José Leopoldo González González drew attention for his energetic participation with young people during the activities and Mass.

Brigitte Stegemann was an 83-year-old great-grandmother and a Christian. On July 10, she died through Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program in Ontario. Diagnosed with terminal Stage IV stomach cancer, Stegemann had wanted to die naturally. But while her granddaughter and longtime legal representative, Brigitte Kranendonk, was away on vacation, medical personnel discussed MAiD with Stegemann. She was subsequently deemed capable of choosing MAiD despite allegedly being unable to answer basic questions about her own family. Canadian Catholic News reported that Kranendonk said her grandmother had originally rejected MAiD but was persuaded to request it during her absence. When Kranendonk returned and asked her grandmother whether she really wanted to die, Stegemann’s reaction was heartbreaking. “I’m supposed to die on Friday? They want to kill me on Friday?”, she reportedly asked through tears. Her family says she later repeatedly expressed regret, telling them she had made a …Bontsi

Second fall: Having succumbed to the subtle trap set by the Freemasons within the conclave, Pius XII’s successor set about subverting the entire conclave, an operation which succeeded, since the conclave in question continued against all expectations. Let us not forget, indeed, that the enemies of the Church have long dreamed of substituting a false pope for the true one, and thereby, without anyone noticing, causing the whole Church to fall into Apostasy. Their manoeuvre succeeded on 26 October 1958, and not only did the successor to Pius XII fall, but all the cardinals of the conclave fell in turn. Indeed, to have a false pope, it was necessary to turn a true conclave into a false one, and that was the conclave2. (Source: first comment)

Saturday, 9th August 1913 Harry Scott and Boots Rogers Recalled to Stand by the State, The Atlanta Constitution Atlanta Constitution August 9th, 1913 When court convened Friday morning Harry Scott, Pinkerton detective, engaged by the defense in the Phagan case, was recalled to the stand by the state and asked how long it took Jim Conley, the negro sweeper, to write a copy of one of the murder notes when it was read off to him and [1 word illegible], dictated word for word. The detective declared that the negro had taken about three or four minutes for this. "Boots" Rogers was next called and asked one question about the condition of the basement. Rogers is the ex-county policeman in whose car the police answered Newt Lee's call the morning of the murder. His testimony Friday was in regard to the unsanitary condition of the basement. After a call for George Epps, the little newsie who swore to riding to town on April 26 with Mary Phagan, had gone unanswered, the defense called its first …Bontsi
Saint Edith Stein: The Jewish Philosopher Who Found Christ and Died a Martyr Teresa Benedict of the Cross Edith Stein Nun, Discalced Carmelite, Martyr Co-patron of Europe (1891-1942) "We bow down before the testimony of the life and death of Edith Stein, an outstanding daughter of Israel and at the same time a daughter of the Carmelite Order, Sister Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, a personality who united within her rich life a dramatic synthesis of our century. It was the synthesis of a history full of deep wounds that are still hurting ... and also the synthesis of the full truth about man. All this came together in a single heart that remained restless and unfulfilled until it finally found rest in God" (Pope John Paul II during Edith Stein's beatification in Cologne on 1 May 1987). Who is she? Edith Stein was born in Breslau on the 12th of October 1891, the youngest of 11, as her family was celebrating Yom Kippur, the most important Jewish feast, the Feast of Atonement. ' The devices are proving transformative for people with disabilities, but the ability to film strangers without their knowledge is raising concerns. Apart from a small, red recording light on the frame of some models, many people may not realise they’re being filmed. Experts warn the new wave of AI technology could be smart glasses with built-in facial recognition, which could access personal information and increase the risk of identity theft.'
The Redemption of Man and the Rejection of “Holy Sex” A Patristic and Scholastic Disputation Against the Modern Exaltation of Carnal Pleasure “The first man Adam was made into a living soul; the last Adam into a quickening spirit.” —1 Corinthians 15:45 Prologue: The Question Before Us There is a fundamental question which must be asked before we speak of the holiness of sexual pleasure: What is man? And immediately after that: What became of man through the Fall? For if we begin with fallen man as though his present condition were the standard of human nature, we shall inevitably mistake the wounds of the Fall for the original design of God. This is precisely the danger in the modern exaltation of sexuality. The question is no longer merely: "Is marital intercourse lawful?" The Catholic tradition already answers that question. The more profound question is: "What ought the Christian to desire within the marital act?" And here a profound difference appears between the ascetical tradition …Bontsi
Saint Dominic: The Apostle of the Rosary BENEDICT XVI GENERAL AUDIENCE Paul VI Audience Hall Wednesday, 3 February 2010 General Audience of 3 February 2010: Saint … Saint Dominic Guzmán Dear Brothers and Sisters, Last week I presented the luminous figure of Francis of Assisi; today I want to talk about another Saint of the same period who made a fundamental contribution to the renewal of the Church of his time: St Dominic, the Founder of the Order of Preachers, also known as Dominican Friars. His successor at the head of the Order, Bl. Jordan of Saxony, gives a complete picture of St Dominic in the text of a famous prayer: "Your strong love burned with heavenly fire and God-like zeal. With all the fervour of an impetuous heart and with an avowal of perfect poverty, you spent your whole self in the cause of the Apostolic life" and in preaching the Gospel. It is precisely this fundamental trait of Dominic's witness that is emphasized: he always spoke with God and of God. Love for the …Bontsi
