Commentons la vie extraordinaire de saint Joseph de Cupertino. - Premièrement vous voyez que Notre-Dame a mis tout ce qui est négatif chez cet homme. Mais, comme « à l'amour rien n'est impossible », selon la maxime de sainte Thérèse de Lisieux, il accomplit tout ce que sa vocation l'appelait à faire. Il y a une idée fausse sur l'efficacité qui la définit uniquement en termes de production. C'est faux parce que faire quelque chose n'est pas une fin en soi. Ce qui explique l'action, c'est la fin qu'on a en tête. La bonne notion d'efficacité est de faire ce que l'on est censé faire selon sa vocation. Donc, pour être efficace, chacun devrait se demander s'il accomplit les plans de Dieu sur lui. S'il travaille en collaboration avec les plans de Dieu, la grâce multipliera ses efforts et il fera bien plus qu'il n'est capable de faire autrement.
