Disappointing AP Exclusive Attacks Francis
An AP Exclusive (Februar 5) has known that Pope Francis received in 2015 an eight-page letter of Juan Carlos Cruz who now lives in Philadelphia, an alleged victim of the Chilean Father Fernando Karadima. The letter detailed how Karadima sexually abused Cruz and how other Chilean clergy, among them Bishop Juan Barros of Osorno, Chile, allegedly ignored this.
Karadima’s homosexual abuses are not disputed. Disputed is the claim that Bishop Barros who at the time belonged to the Karadima circle, knew about them.
In the past, Francis has vigorously defended Barros calling the accusations against him “slander”. The AP Exclusive offers no new facts on Barros but is more interested in stirring up random emotions against Francis.

Cardinal Müller, Blessing Of Gay Couples Is Abomination
Talking in Bratislava, Slovakia, Cardinal Gerhard Müller criticised a „submissive conversion of the Church into an NGO” concerned with this-worldly conditions only. For him this constitutes a “suicidal modernization” of the Church.
According to the German newspaper Tagespost (February 7), Müller is not happy about different interpretations of Amoris Laetitia offered by different bishops conferences. “There can be no plurality in dogmatic questions”, he said.
Müller called Church blessings of gay pseudo-marriages „an abomination at a holy place" which approves of something God does not approve.

The biggest gesture of reform of the papacy in our times was Benedict XVI’s decision to resign, said Cardinal Marc Ouellet, 73, the prefect of the Congregation for Bishops.
Talking to Vatican News (February 11), he explained that Benedict’s resignation “opened the horizon to many transformations that Francis is carrying out”.
The Cardinal praises Benedict XVI for his discretion regarding Francis and imagines that the former pope had sometimes questions and was "surprised" by Francis. But Benedict XVI made “no intervention that could cast doubt on what his successor does.”
Ouellet, a neoconservative who was considered close the Benedict XVI, is now trying hard to conform to the new party-line.

Manila Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle exempted his faithful from fasting on February 16, the first Friday in Lent, because it coincides with the Chinese New Year.
Tagle who is not known as a defender of “traditional practices” referred to the “cultural and spiritual importance and the traditional practices” associated with Chinese New Year in order to justify his decision in a circular dated January 19.
Traditionally, the festival is a time to honor deities as well as ancestors. New Year's Day itself is a public holiday in the Philippines.

Replying to Munich Cardinal Marx' proposal to "bless" gay pseudo-marriages, retired Salzburg Auxiliary Bishop Andreas Laun pointed out that sin, including brothels or concentration camps, cannot be blessed.
Writing on kath.net (February 12), Laun called the individual-case trick with which Marx wants to introduce gay blessings “absolutely worthless” asking what Saint John the Baptist would have said if Herod, when taking his brother's wife, had excused his adultery as "individual case".
